An invisible shower drain is designed so the drainage point is not visible from normal standing height. The channel is set along the wall or floor junction and covered with a tile-insert grate, so the floor surface appears continuous.
How the Drain Becomes Invisible
- Tile-insert grate — the grate is replaced by a tray holding a cut piece of the same floor tile or stone
- Position — set tight against the wall, where it reads as a shadow line rather than a fitting
- Slim channel width — narrow profiles reduce the visible metal edge

Design Considerations
Invisible still means serviceable. The insert must lift out and the hair trap must be reachable. A drain that cannot be cleaned will block regardless of how it looks.
Flow rate is generally lower than an open steel grate. Water enters around the edges of the insert rather than through a wide grille. Size the drain against the shower output with margin, particularly for rain showers.
Not suitable for vinyl or LVT. Sheet materials cannot be cut into a tile tray. Use a steel grate with a sealing flange instead.
