Linear shower drains are made to order in any length from 200 mm to 1200 mm. Point drains are typically 100×100 mm and upward. Sizes are nominal — always confirm the actual dimension against the product drawing before setting out.
Linear drain lengths
| Shower opening width | Suggested drain length |
|---|---|
| Under 800 mm | Any length from 200 mm up to the opening width |
| 800–900 mm | 700–800 mm, or made to the full opening width |
| 900–1000 mm | 800–900 mm, or made to the full opening width |
| 1000–1200 mm | 900–1200 mm, or made to the full opening width |
| Over 1200 mm | Multiple drains, or a channel in several sections |
All lengths are made to order. Our linear drains are produced to any length you specify between 200 mm and 1200 mm — there is no fixed list of standard sizes to choose from. Lengths in the table above are a sizing guide, not a stock list.
As a working rule, the channel should span most of the shower opening so the floor can fall in a single direction at a manageable slope.
Channel width and depth
Width is normally a design decision, not a performance one — slim channels are chosen for appearance, wider channels for higher flow. Depth is a performance constraint: it determines the minimum floor build-up required.
| Body height | Typical application |
|---|---|
| ~28 mm | Ultra-thin; renovations and limited build-up, side outlet |
| ~50 mm | Low-profile; compact trap |
| ~65–90 mm | Standard; full odour trap |
Point drain sizes
Point drains start at 100×100 mm and increase in standard increments. The grate size is what is visible; the body and outlet dimensions sit below and are what determine whether the drain fits the slab.
Outlet sizes
Outlet diameter must match the waste pipe. Common sizes vary by market — confirm the pipe size on site rather than assuming, and check whether an adaptor is available for the connection.
Always set out from the product drawing, not the nominal size. See setting out a linear drain.
